ISSUE #21
Page 1 – Panel 1:
Mirage, Phantomark, and Aegis are in mid-discussion with the scientist when a comm link lights up—Lena’s voice crackling through:
Lena (urgent, voice only):
“Get back to Earth. Now. It’s the biggest one yet.”
Page 2 – Panel 1:
The scientist steps forward, raising her hand.
Dr. Vaen:
“Wait. If that thing is what I think it is… you need to know more.”
Page 3 – Panel 1:
She brings up a projection of the monster’s biology—highlighting its eye structures, energy receptors, and neural sync nodes.
Dr. Vaen:
“If it’s the Zynari I think it is, then it's not just fighting, it's learning, observing. You’re not just fighting it… you're performing for Zykor.”
Page 4 – Panel 1:
She pulls out a small, glowing shard encased in a reinforced vial.
Dr. Vaen:
“This. One shot. Enough to vaporize any Zynari. But... it’ll drain the user’s lifeforce. Burn their nervous system like a fuse.”
Dr. Vaen (serious):
“It takes 150 years to recreate. Use it only when the stars fall.”
Page 5 – Panel 1:
The team nods grimly. She hands the vial to Aegis. He tucks it away. They turn to leave.
Dr. Vaen (quietly):
“May your bones return with you.”
She watches their ship rise into orbit, the light of the engine reflecting in her worried eyes.
Page 6 – Panel 1:
Cut to Earth. Facility 9. A CRASH—Lena blasts through the ceiling and launches toward the chaos zone.
Page 7 – Panel 1:
The monster tears through skyscrapers. Civilians run. Some don’t make it. A man gets stepped on and bursts like a balloon. Another is torn in half as he tries to climb a car. It’s horrific.
Page 8 – Panel 1:
The creature pauses. Its eyes glow red. In its POV—heat signatures, power surges. A bright signal: Evan Holt.
Page 9 – Panel 1:
Evan and Jason duck into an alley. Evan’s hands shake.
Jason (looking behind):
“Uh… Evan… RUN.”
They sprint.
Page 10 – Panel 1:
Just before the monster catches them, a sonic boom—Lena SLAMS into it, sending it flying through three buildings.
Page 11 – Panel 1:
The monster focuses on Lena now. Its eye zooms in. Somewhere light-years away, in Zykor’s chamber, the footage appears on a giant monitor.
Zykor (quiet):
“Begin.”
Zyrax nods and watches closely.
Page 12 – Panel 1:
News anchors on Earth begin covering it live. The footage shows Lena fighting the monster.
Reporter (voiceover):
“Earth’s protector has arrived… and it’s fighting back.”
Page 13 – Panel 1:
Evan turns to Jason, panting.
Evan:
“Your house is close. Go. Get your family. Lock down.”
Jason:
“What about you?”
Evan (running off):
“I’ll be fine.”
Page 14 – Panel 1:
Evan ducks behind rubble, activates his suit. The nanotech spreads over him.
Page 15 – Panel 1:
He blasts into the sky, joining Lena.
Lena (grinning):
“Took you long enough.”
Page 16 – Panel 1:
Together, they strike—the monster roaring in rage. Cut to Zykor narrowing his eyes.
Zykor:
“There are two.”
Page 17 – Panel 1:
Captain Hawke speaks through comms.
Captain:
“Team’s en route. Hold position if you can.”
Page 18 – Panel 1:
Evan and Lena are struggling. The creature is massive, and now smarter—dodging, learning. But then—BOOM—Voltfist crashes down with the rest of the team.
Page 19 – Panel 1:
The fight gets BRUTAL. Powers flash. Buildings fall. Aegis' shields deflect a blast. Phantomark gets slashed. Mirage cloaks them but gets tossed through a wall.
Page 20 – Panel 1:
Evan sees a strange device on the monster’s back—spiked, glowing with alien script.
Evan (to comms):
“That’s not just a creature. It’s a transmitter. It’s recording us!”
Page 21 – Panel 1:
Cut to Zykor’s chamber—alien text streams across monitors. Data, fighting forms, tactical reactions—all downloaded.
Zykor (smirking):
“Perfect.”
Page 22 – Panel 1:
Back to Earth. Team tries to destroy the transmitter but the creature SLAMS them. Tail sends Lena flying. Phantomark and Mirage are crushed, barely conscious, trapped under rubble.
Page 23 – Panel 1:
Voltfist is crawling. Arm broken. Blood trailing. He finds a sparking car battery near debris.
Voltfist (weakly):
“…gotta try…”
Page 24 – Panel 1 (FULL PAGE HERO PANEL):
Voltfist surges energy into the car, overloading it. He throws the electric charge at the transmitter—it hits, bursts into flame, and the transmission screen on Zynar goes dark.
Page 25 – Panel 1:
Zykor stands, emotionless. Zyrax clenches a fist.
Zyrax:
“They broke the feed. But we got what we needed.”
Page 26 – Panel 1:
Zykor SLAMS his claw into the console.
Zykor:
“Recall it. We’ll harvest what we have.”
Page 27 – Panel 1:
On Earth, the creature lets out a mechanical screech. It vanishes in a vortex. Everyone breathes in relief.
Page 28 – Panel 1:
Team is gathered. Phantomark and Mirage are barely alive. The others surround them. Aegis holds them steady as they limp back toward evac ships.
Page 29 – Panel 1:
Facility 7. Dr. Kane meets with Dr. Nirell Vaen, who just landed on Earth.
Dr. Kane:
“We need to see what we can learn from this thing.”
“I’ve already started.”
Page 30 – Final Panel:
Cut to Zynar. The lab. Zynari scientists examine the creature. DNA from its tail and feet extracted.
Scientist:
“Little to extract behaviorally. But we have… pieces.”
Zyrax (smiling):
“Sometimes… pieces are enough.”
